The Hot Fuzz Film Tour
In the summer of 2006 a star studded cast descended on Wells, and for a few weeks it was transformed into Sandford, the fictional village in the blockbuster, Hot Fuzz. This film, directed by local boy Edgar Wright, went on to international acclaim and has taken on cult status.
It tells the story of London cop Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) who is sent to the seemingly idyllic village of Sandford. At first life seems dull, but along with sidekick, PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), Angel soon discovers some sinister goings on. This was not the first film that Edgar Wright made in Wells. In fact during his time as a pupil at the local secondary school (The Blue School) he made a number of films, including his first cop film, Dead Right.
One of the biggest stars of Hot Fuzz is Wells itself. From the Market Place, to the theatre and back alleys of England's smallest city, visitors can see almost all of the film's locations.
